I have been playing Rift lately and have really been enjoying it. Every once in a while I get an itch to troll the "Level 1-29" chat. Yes, I will start crap just to start it. However, last night actually floored me.
First, a bit of information about me (other than I like games and have ADHD). I consider myself a constitutionalist. For most progressives, that means I am conservative. However, I don't like what a lot of conservatives believe in (such as making gay marriage illegal, banning smoking in private establishments, etc). I believe the country should be governed the way the founding fathers meant for it to be governed: small federal government and most control at the state level. This also means that I cannot stand Obama. He is probably the most anti-constitutional president we have ever had.
Now that I am done giving background this is what happened. Someone was talking about how great Obama was and then started looking for a spanish speaking guild. I, being the smartass that I can be, said "Just remember to vote for Obama or you will get deported". If you have been monitoring the news lately, you will know what I am talking about. Anywho, a person in chat said something along the lines of "Just because you can say stuff doesn't mean you should". Someone else then responded with "Free Speech, we can say what we want". The response to that from Mr. "Just because You can" was: "The Constitution is only there for people that do something wrong to hide behind". WHAT?!?!!!
I didn't know how to respond to that. I don't think many people did. How does someone even come by that belief? I know Obama has been quoted as saying that the U.S. Constitution is one of negatives (i.e. it doesn't list out what the government can do, just what it can't). It is there to protect our rights (which Obama thinks is a negative). It doesn't matter if you believe someone says something wrong and shouldn't have said it. The wonderful thing about our constitution is YOU CAN SAY IT. Why would someone want to take that away?
Well, enough ranting. Time to spend some time with my son and then maybe get some game time in later.

Decisions, Decisions
Since the massive disappointment that is Lollipop Chainsaw I decided to charge up my Xbox 360 controller and dig out my copy of Battlefield 3 (henceforth referenced as BF3). This has led to a conundrum for me. I have really enjoyed my time playing BF3 but I have also enjoyed playing Rift again. When I get time to game I really wish I could split myself in two and play both. Since I haven't been able to figure out a way to non-fatally do that, I often waste time debating which I am going to play.
Now, that doesn't sound to difficult but somehow during that debate I have an "ooh shiny" moment and go off on a tangent. Once said tangent has gone on to completion, I log into Rift and select my character (I play on Wolfsbane if anyone cares..Guardian) and then decide to log off and go play BF3 until my 360 decides to lock up in the middle of a game.
Since both offer different types of gameplay, you would think it would be easy to decide..at least for most people. For me, I am addicted to leveling which both games offer. I think "Hey, I could level my classes in BF3" then I go into "I really need to level my character in Rift".
Speaking of BF3, the Close Quarters maps are actually pretty good. They offer plenty of run and gun areas with a good mixture of little areas where someone that likes to snipe can hole away and snipe 'til their heart's content.
Ohh Shiny Moment: I am glad I have a Tide stain stick...my shirt decided it wanted to share my lunch with me
If I had beta access into GW2 I would probably be content with that for the moment but for now I will have to fight the good fight and figure out what I am going to play each night (I know, very important life altering decisions there). Another thing that I am waiting for that will probably help in the decision is 1.9 in Rift. That patch seems to have some interesting changes.

Welcome to my world
First things first, I am going to give a little background information about me. I have been gaming since Pong was first released. Yes, that means that I am an "old" dude. I am married and have an 11-year old son/gamer/soccer player. I have played 100's of games over the years and have owned every major system released since the Atari 2600 (and some not so major systems).
The one thing that really drives how I play and what I play is the fact that I have ADHD. I have had it all of my life (not really diagnosed until a few years ago) and have just learned to deal with it (for the most part, my wife would probably disagree with me on that one :) ).
Currently I am playing Rift, BF3, Max Payne 3, Ghost Recon 2, MW3, and Fifa 12 (plus other games on my iPad). Games that I play have to have things happening at almost all times or I move on to something "shinier". For example, I tried out Skyrim but all of the endless meandering throughout the huge (and admittedly amazing world) I got bored to the point that I couldn't play it anymore. At the same point, the meandering in MMOs doesn't really bother me as much. I guess that is because even though I may be wandering around there is usually something to read/debate/troll in chat.
Note: For anyone that may be reading this that doesn't know what an MMO is, it is a massively multiplayer Online game. Games that fit this bill are games like World of Warcraft, Rift, Star Wars the Old Republic, Tera, Everquest 2 and on and on and on.
To finish this up, I am going to talk about the latest game that I played: Lollipop Chainsaw. I was actually looking forward to this game. It looked fun and like it was put together pretty good. First, I can tell you I didn't play it very long, just 30 minutes. That should give you a hint as to what I thought about it. Second, in my opinion $60 for this game is WAY too much.
Why you may ask? Well, first there is the fighting a la button mashing. They seem to have went for a Batman: Arkham * type of fighting where you want to chain attacks together. They failed. Unlike Batman, the moves did not seem very fluid when chained together, there was almost a millisecond pause between each move. Second, the game just annoyed me. I couldn't put my finger on it. It could have been every time you try and move the camera down a little the main character says something about trying to look up her skirt. It could also have been the fact that they were going for a "Buffy the Zombie Slayer" feel and made more of a "Air Headed Bimbo with a chainsaw Zombie Slayer". There just was no "life" to the game. The Zombies, the story, every thing about the game seemed forced. For a game that was released this late in the X360 and PS3's life the graphics were also pretty crappy.
Now for what I liked: There was a bunch of shinies in the game and rainbows :P Alas, not much more than that impressed me.
